Black and Yellow

My first time going to the stadium to watch an international football match, was the day I was done with a crazy assignment. One that sucked the soul out of me for a week, THANK YOU BUILDING TECHNOLOGY.

Anyway, I was hyped to go to one of the many Olympics qualifying matches; Malaysia vs Syria, after Malaysia won against Indonesia in the SEA games. :D

Truthfully, I wasn't a fan before this, but their recent victories have turned me into a patriotic fan!! yayy, *waves Malaysia flag*

The experience was quite exhilarating. Flags, headgears, jerseys, and face paint was on sale everywhere. The stadium was half-filled, but that still equals to alott of people! Its weird seeing the opening session and game right before my eyes because I'm used to watching matches on the TV.

Anyhow, we didn't get the chance to scream or cheer crazily because we lost to Syria 2-0 :( It was a great experience though; being amongst the same fans cheering on your team in a real stadium beats cheering from your living room couch!

So many things I've wanted to pen down, but honestly didn't have time to. Since I'm free for the time-being, posts from now on will be a slow gathering of the events of the past few months that I've failed to write about here.. :)

This timeline shall start with one of the proudest moments of my life, of me selected for the Persatuan Arkitek Malaysia CIS Student Award. This isn't a piece to brag about, but to pen down my feelings of surprise but thrill when the Dean approached me to tell me how they've chosen me (ME?) to receive an award for someone who showed the most progress in the entire 3 years of coursework.

It took some time to sink, because I never thought I will be selected after their interview sessions with so many greater students. Believe me, I think I repeated "Are you sure?" 10 times and he didn't understand why I was reacting that way.

So I'm thankful. A wonderful piece of paper which I hope will carry me further in the future. :)

Treated my parents to a nice dinner at Dave's in 1Utama. Thanks mom and dad for believing in me when I persisted to follow my passion.

Creepy thing happened on one of those days. Random guy approaches me on the escalator and pretends to know me. Am surprised at how much guts people have nowadays, randomly asking for phone numbers in the middle of a shopping complex. Girls, please be careful and try not to walk alone!

A trip to the mountains famous of cool weather, juicy strawberries, & hot cups of tea; none other than Cameron's, with a personal tour from our very own Cameron's boy Matthias. :)

Hot steamboats, chilly hikes up the Berinchang tower and forests, manicure for the guys, absolute laughter with alcohol, and of course irresistible foodstuffs like strawberries, cakes, waffles, scones, and tea that simply excite the tummy.

Oh, and not to mention 10 people squeezed into a Lexus SUV. How we managed to do that, it still surprises me. The convertible roof was definitely something that helped us enjoy the ride more, especially when the cold winds from outside gushed in. :D

It was memorable I would say :), except for the occasional poking...

So feeling inferior to the mother's day card my sisters flew back all the way from Aussie for my mom, I just HAD to get something eventhough I only had about RM30 left with me.

(Yes I do tend to overspend on things and don't even know I'm broke until I see my wallet at the end of the day..)

Anyway point is, I got my mummy pink lilies! :) Preeettttyyyy right? (More of them bloomed later on btw!)

Celebrated by going to this bar-like slash karaoke slash English and Chinese oldies songs playing everywhere place somewhere in Damansara.

GOSHH, 4 hours there got unbearable for me towards the end.

Mom wanted to go there, and it was Mother's day so unfortunately I had to give in.

The food was undoubtedly good though. We also had escargots! yum.

Thanks Mom, for getting meals prepared for me as soon as I come home,
Thanks Mom, for boiling healthy drinks and herbs for me when you see me burn the midnight oil weeks in a row doing my assignments,
Thanks Mom, for being tolerant over my volatile behaviour,

Eventhough we're known for not being on good terms most of the time, especially in the past, I think that things have somehow started to ease up recently, because we have started reflecting on both our characters, and we are both beginning to learn to understand that our mother-daughter relationship is more important than those small matters that we tend to fight about.

Perhaps the fact that this might be my last year in Malaysia with my parents has made me come to realise how much I take them for granted.

So eventhough I don't say this often, I do mean it when I say it now,

Another Great Weekend

So the monkey comes back to Malaysia for about once a month. And as tiring as hell as it is balancing coursework and dates, or getting up really early in the morning and coming back really late at night, just to optimise the amount of time I have with him.. I think that it is all worth it. :)

We go to places noone else would agree to go with us;
I become his eating buddy, and he becomes my shopping buddy.
I always need to go to the most random places to get my supplies, and he loves being my driver.

Its a win-win situation I would say. :)

Just last weekend was another weekend like that,

where we watched 'Just Go With It', (admiring Jennifer Anniston's body ahem),

We ate at Tony Roma's to satisfy his cravings for American food,

We ate at the Korean Street Food place in Asian Avenue to satisfy my craving for ramen,

He was my accomplice in shopping for a new cardigan, as well as when I had to finish up my model for an assignment,

And at every other time, we would just watch whatever shows we could get our hands on. (we watched Dear John this time around, and I cried buckets of tears.. ): )

Tea Party

The one week break has come and gone.

But I did make full use of it. :) Went to the PC fair with Sherene and Fran and I got myself a lappie bag, a mouse, and a 500gb external harddrive!

Happy and fulfilled with our shopping, we settled at KLCC's BISOU for some cupcakes.

It wasn't the last of cupcakes for us because a few days later we decided to bake some banana muffins and enjoy steaming cups of tea while watching 2003's The Italian Job.

Yes, the movie which made the Mini Coopers famous! You can't help but fall in love with the Mini Coopers in that movie, what more with Charlize Theron driving 'em! :D

P.S. The banana muffins were good, mind you! My first baking success I would say :') But then again, Fran did most of the baking. :P

A Plank & Some Strings

If you've been to Broga Hill, I'm sure you've noticed a simple swing tied to a tree on the intermediate stop. Yes, the same tree that has about 5 pairs of shoes hanging from it now.

Tucked away at a corner but visibly striking, hikers are often thrilled to sit and enjoy a nice ride after such a tough hike. (well its tough for me, at least. haha)

It one of those swings that bring back the joy of one's childhood, and.. can be reminiscent of those sappy and emo MTV's too, haha.

Now on my 2nd visit there with Khairi, Carol, Dena, and Thri, we noticed that it went missing! We found the scraps lying on the ground nearby though, probably due to vandalism since the place is gaining fame as each day passes by.

So Alex the mastermind came up with the Swing Project. We simply wanted to make a new swing to replace the infamous one that was thrown off. And so we did, an effort put together by about 15 or more people in the class, to design, paint, and climb the hill to fix up the swing. (just in time before a heavy downpour may I add)

What did we gain?

Fulfillment.
Content.

Long overdue post about Thri's birthday. But the only thing I can think of blogging about right now with pictures to aid.

Thri's birthday was a surprise by Dena and the bunch, who decided to throw a music-themed party for the lady.

And so we all came as hip hop dancers, christina aguilera, lily allen, gwen stefani, kesha, and some just decided to be good ol' jason mraz with their fedora hats.

The cake was special and superb, thanks to Dena's crazy brownie recipe.

And the night was filled with charades fun, where we tried posing the hardest and longest titled movies out there, and getting frantic over the time limit we set for ourselves. :)

Of Sentimental Value

Birthdays become routine, especially at home.

As kids, our parents used to bring us out for a nice dinner and ice-cream,
before coming home to our cosy dining room to blow out the candles on our cake, iced with different colours of a rainbow or shaped to imitate one of our favourite Disney cartoons.

As years go by and we turn into teenagers, we preferred to celebrate our birthdays with friends outside, and soon the importance of celebrating with the family started to die away.

I guess I realised this as me and my family celebrated my eldest sister's birthday a few days ago. And all she wanted was the routine we used to have when we were little; dinner at a restaurant we liked, and a memorable picture of her blowing the candles off her cake at our cosy home.

Sometimes, we take all these things for granted don't you think?

P.S. We had the candle-blowing session at our refurbished patio! No more same old same old picture at the marble table in our dining room. :)

Imagine this. I'm a local Malaysian, and yet I have not explored Kuala Lumpur as much as a tourist would have.

I realised this when I set foot into the Petronas Twin Towers skybridge for the first time, intending to bring my sister's boyfriend for a tour around the city.

Even places like Ampang Lookout Point was a familiar name, but I never actually took the initiative to go there and check the place out on my own.

Well, I finally got the opportunity to visit these places last week and it was great because the visits made me feel like I was on holiday! :D (When in fact I wasn't.. piling workload at home whilst I enjoy outside SIGHH)

To The Merlion City.. Again!

Decided to enjoy the last bit of my holidays in Singapore with my mom and sister, with the sweet relatives bringing us everywhere to get a feel of the place. Also got the chance to see the monkey everytime he wasn't out there 'serving his country'. :P

Its my 4th time in Singapore over the past 2 years, and i think this was the most jam-packed one of all! I got to see pretty buildings and experience the hectic train rides more than ever.

It was nice lounging around Orchard on the first day, eating fruit tarts and Ben & Jerry's while chatting and catching up with the cousins,
My dear aunt also prepared an awesome Japanese Udon feast to fill our bellies for the night,
However watching the movie Black Swan with the monkey and the cousins brought chills to my bones till the very next morning.

The next day was jam-packed with visits;
I ate my heart out with KFC for lunch and Oyster Omelette for MORE lunch,
We strolled through memory lane in the realistic and interactive Chinatown Museum,
Enjoyed a sunset boat ride around the river at Clarke Quay,
and filled our stomachs with an awesome North Indian buffet.

Also became tourists with the monkey at Singapore's Night Safari!
Rode the tram along the dark pathway, being surprised by some cute, some huge, and some scary animals along the way!
The animal show after that revealed us to the Boa Constrictor, a baby leopard, and cute baby raccoons!

My last day before departing was filled with M&M cookies from Subway at Vivo,
Another henna at the end of my leg from Little India,
A delicious dinner at Barossa at the Esplanade,
A delicious hot cup of creamy milk chocolate from Max Brenner's,
and lounging around having conversations against the great scenic views of the city afar.

The trip ended with my tummy being filled by the most delicious Okonimiyaki (Japanese Pancake) I've ever tasted,
and a green tea ice-cream on a cone! :D (which almost got me fined when I subconsciously ate it as i entered the MRT station..)

Big Black Ape.

So the monkey just turned 22 about a week ago, evolving into a big black ape.

We had the simple kind of birthday that he wanted;
A romantic comedy movie at e@Curve, (okay lah maybe this part was more of what I wanted)
Dinner at TGIF,
Chocolates for gifts,
Sushi for our lunch gathering cum birthday surprise,
Meeples for the fun,
and Monopoly City for continuous boardgame fun!

It was a night of family reunion, delicious wine and tasty pork as I set foot into the same restaurant Chong brought me and some other friends to years ago for his 17th birthday.
(How time flies, I'M OLDDDD. ugh.)

Yes I do realise its a tad bit late for me to be updating my blog on my CNY celebrations this year.

But at least I'm getting to it. Better late than never right? :)

So this CNY was a lil' more fun than the usual..
'bring 2 novels back to Kuantan just to fill up 5 boring whole days there'.
Yes, indeed I have no life when it comes to the 'balik kampung' tradition.

Hence I'm proud to announce that..
THIS YEAR, me and the cousins grabbed every opportunity to do something exciting.

Apart from watching 'Secret Garden', only the most awesome Korean drama I've ever watched to date..
we had our own fun playing Indian Poker at Club7, Kuantan's so-called club ahem..,
we drove up to one of the pretty beaches near Terengganu and took jumping shots,
and we braved ourselves to light up fireworks in an empty carpark lot somewhere in
Kuantan.

T'was indeed a fun CNY this year. :)

The short semester is finally over and I must say, I'm so proud of my group members for sticking up and giving their best eventhough our group must had gotten one of the toughest assignments -

Given a half-completed-design and asking us to produce 54 detailed and thorough construction drawings from scratch was ridiculous.

But its finally over and I'm quite happy with the results. :) If any of my group members happen to read this, THANK YOU! haha.

Anyway, been occupied with going out.

Partly to entertain the cousin whos here from Singapore, Abigail.
Partly to celebrate one of the bestie's birthdays, Serene.
Partly to just relax after all the semester stress, drinking at Beer Factory.
And of course, partly to shop for cheap and pretty clothes at Times Square, KL.

Dream Terrorist

So the past week has been super hectic as my group rushed to finish all our drawings by today. 42 A1 drawings, mind you.

It was 12 hours in the college's computer lab, scrolling and clicking to the most tedious, dream-terrorising, line-making programme called autoCAD.

Why dream-terrorising you may ask.

Well, there are alot of times where we need to use the command 'TRIM' to trim excess lines. So imagine having use that 12 hours a day. I go to sleep thinking I can manually trim lines in my dreams!

Of course, there was the occasional going out to chill;
Martini, Bailey's, and Starker beer at Overtime,
a mamak session watching MU-Liverpool,
and an open house that let me catch up with my good friends. ♥

New Year's.. Again

Am I getting old or does New Year's seem like a routine mundane event now?

Ushering in the new year doesn't seem as such a big deal as how it used to be to me last year or the years before.

But anyhow, I'm glad I made the best of it this time around! :)

Of Papa John's delivery and KFC buckets,
Of pretty colourful markers to mark our paper cups,
Of protecting the Vodka Citrus from being consumed far too early,
Of glowing devil horns, beanies, and fedoras,
Of sexy Serene's incident in the lift and Yee Cheng's cool pants,
Of watching fireworks bursting just a few feet away with good friends on the rooftop,
Of jumping shots that 'fly like a G6',
Of the King's Cup that made the guys speak in high pitch voices, dance Bollywood style and make girly cheer stunts,
And of conversations after till 7am.

It was most definitely worth it. ♥

Merry Christmas!

Its really funny how time flies by so fast. I didn't notice that Christmas was even around the corner until I suddenly walked into huge Christmas decorations and lovely Christmas songs playing at the mall.

Christmas this year wasn't a lonely weekend doing CAD drawings in front of my computer, thankfully.

Spent Xmas eve at Chillex with the mates and Christmas night itself with Michael and the gang. :)

Xmas happens to be Shee Ling's birthday too so we threw in a surprise cake, a 3-course christmas meal, and presents from Yuan Yuan for her at Chillex!

Also got a cute lamp from Serene and a rattle puzzle game from the bistro itself as my gift!

Guess who decided to stay in and have a Chuck marathon along with pizza, spaghetti meatballs, and garlic bread for their 3-year anniversary celebration?

Along with a shogun buffet and a shopping spree the day before of course! *slurps*

And the gifts?

Oh I hate telling you about the gifts part.

Because I didn't get anything for the monkey who succeeded in convincing me that we wouldn't be getting anything for each other this time around.

Then one day when I came back from college, I see a bouquet of sunflowers, a card, and a box on my study table. (Best part was, my mom pretended she had absolutely no idea how it got there)

Well, it was 3 stalks of sunflowers (my favourite flowers) to indicate 3 years being together,
a card with a bear on the cover, asking if it could hug me,
and a bracelet for me to wear if I wanted him to hold my hand. :)

Great, now I'm sure you guys are all going 'awwwww..' and think i'm super-duper evil for not getting him anything. sigh. ):

Weaving Through Nature

This semester's Design Studio was bad. B-A-D.

There wasn't sufficient time to develop, and i got VERY lost halfway through.

I've put my everything into the final presentation though, and thankfully I managed to scrape through. I just wished there was more time and clarity.. I was so determined to design something that I hoped to love.

I just have so much to complain about this semester but I just don't have the energy to anymore.

Well, we managed to enjoy a little camwhore fun after the presentation! Put aside the 2 week torture and the stress design studio brings with it!

Broadway Night

So my school's formal night was 2 days ago. The theme was Broadway Night, and we set up a photobooth with bling bling lightbulbs and red carpets around our venue, Rootz. (a club at the rooftop of Lot10)

And I was in charge of performances, so yes I foresaw myself running around trying to get things in order and having no time to enjoy the scrumptious food on the menu.

Which was exactly what happened, sighh. I AM NEVER DOING AGENDA/PERFORMANCES AGAIN. I'm too stressed a person to handle it.

So most pictures that come after this was actually taken before and after the whole event.

Toilet was awesome, was surrounded by pictures of hot guys when we washed our hands.

... And i wore super fake and long eyelashes to make my eyes look bigger, HAHA.

When will it all end?

The only thing that was keeping me going was the fact that this semester ends in exactly one week.

It didn't matter eventhough I knew we only had one week of break before our next short semester begins.

Because at least there will be 7 days of rest. of meditation. of anything non-architecture-related.

Then they had to move the commencement date of the short semester a week ahead. 9 days of rest became just 4.

This is unacceptable. I am going to go crazy.

I don't know if its this course, or if its the damn university.

HAHA. My title is so simple but yet it just reflects everything about this post.

Xavier's BBQ.
Xavier's birthday celebration.

Basically a combination of his BBQ party at his 'other house' last week,
and his birthday celebration at TBowl and The Opera at Sunway Pyramid.

Had a nice break away from work at his place for the BBQ. My first time BBQ-ing! Yes, i usually leave all the work to the guys when i go to BBQ parties.. but this time i helped! *pats self* (Okay maybe fanning the fire wasn't a very good idea....)

Had awesome BBQ chicken, potato salad, and nuggets along with guitar playing by stupid Tneh who only got us irritated because we couldn't figure out the 2nd verse of Rihanna's 'Love the Way you Lie'.

If you're wondering what's TBowl, it's a newly opened 'TOILET CONCEPT' restaurant in Sunway Pyramid. Toilet bowls as seats, sinks as tables, food in bowls shaped of toilet bowls. yeaaaaahhhh...

Its disgusting but cute at the same time. Food was okay, the Hong Kong fusion food thing. Service was quite poor, staff yelled 'HAH?!' at me, buts its good I think they're just shorthanded.

The Opera was just an excuse to get Xavier drunk since it was his birthday. Free flow wednesdays, what a coincidence! :)

Its funny seeing two people say "I'M NOT DRUNK!" and yet you see them slap a high five at you in the air or hug a stool. *cough* YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE.

Sometimes, I zone out. and I remember this time about 3 years ago.

I remember so clearly, the orange skies that light up the end of my row.

And I thought to myself, "I never realised how beautiful the skies here were during sunset"

And there I was, skipping on the pavement and tiptoe-ing on the road's divider as we walked back from the park. One hand holding that can of wintermelon you bought me, one hand spread out to maintain my balance.

Now I'm not the best at balancing. I wobbled unsteadily from side to side..
but its okay.

Because everytime I lost my balance and fell, your arms were already there, ready to catch me. And you would laugh at how silly I was, but I knew perfectly well that that was the reason why you loved me.

Haha, as corny as that may have sounded. It was true.

And I would gaze at the sunset. Mesmerised and completely fulfilled.

This was the scenario that popped into my head when I watched this video. And how i LOVEE the background song! Please send to me if anyone finds it thanks.

Spookbash

Halloween from a week ago;

Made a spontaneous decision with Timothy and Sherene to go for our school's Spookbash. Which explains me not knowing what I am in the following pictures, haha!

The initial decision was to go as 3 angels/fairies, so i attempted becoming an earth angel.

But i couldn't find appropriate wings ): So i ended up as tinkerbell/a sprite/mother nature. HAHA WTF.

Timmy looked like dark angel, straight from the main character of assassin's creed. And Sherene looked like a fairytale geisha with the mask i got her.

What a trio, huh.

Spent the night getting ready, helping out with the brownie sales, and some dancing to Frankie Valli's 'Can't Take My Eyes Off of You'. :)

P.S. Funny thing is, the monkey came back on the same night to surprise me and i wasn't at home. ): ARGHHH!

So I went to Australia a month ago, and I didn't get the chance to really elaborate on that.

The whole idea was to go to Tasmania (yes, again. we went there last year too. only this is the northern part i think) for a family holiday. This time, my sister's boyfriend had come along and my other sister couldn't make it on the last minute.

You could say I was quite a lamp post, but the whole holiday turned out alright.

We spent about a week there going on a road trip on a rental car,

We went hiking at Cradle Mountain(easy route of course), and marvelled at nature at its best (although we froze our butts off),

We saw wallabies and wombats, going 'aww' at their cute lil hands and pointed noses,

We visited Catharact Gauge, an angry stream of water gushing down a gauge,

We visited a lavender farm, only to obviously find out that they don't grow during winter (But we had awesome lavender pancakes and scones, still!),

We bummed around at Strauhn Village's railway tracks and beach during sunset,

And of course, we had great food!

Painstakingly Manual

Everything had to be done painstakingly by hand, and it took me 5 whole days without much sleep to complete everything.

Yes, quite late for a Raya open house but indeed Hazwan decided to pull one off just last week.

Most of us even attempted to dress up for the occassion; Baju Melayu's, Baju Kurung's, Baju Kebaya's, and even a Saree.

I had none of the above, so I ended up wearing something batik inspired. Closest I could get, oops!

It was great hanging out and taking pictures. Definitely a nice extension of our break after the Penang trip.

I have been busy on several trips for the past few weeks; Singapore, Tasmania, Melbourne and lately Penang.

And so we shall start with Singapore, shall we?

It was a long weekend and I decided to use that opportunity to head down to Singapore, stayed over at my cousin's place.

Managed to catch up with some work too, but caught a fever. So don't mind my hagged faces in the pictures.

I recovered just in time to enjoy some Japanese food on my 2nd night.

Definitely had a different experience heading to the Science Centre,
getting a henna from Little India,
having Marche for dinner,
and meeting new friends on my 3rd day. :)

It all passed by too quickly when I had to leave on the 4th. Ended the trip with ice-creams and train-rides. ):

1. I came down with a fever last week.

2. The semester has just begun and I'm already swamped with assignments.

4. I have not packed my bags, and I have made the most spontaneous decision I have made in my life, to go down to Singapore this weekend because of the Friday public holiday wooh!

5. I probably won't have time to update again because I'll be headed to Melbourne/Tasmania next Thursday.

Hawaiian Delight!

The last weekend was hectic, but in a good way! The monkey came back to celebrate my birthday, and the classmates threw an August babies birthday bash for the 10 people in our class who were born in August.

I came up with the Hawaiian theme! :D So we all came together with a pot luck by Suriamas's pool dressed in beach-dresses, Hawaiian board shorts, and flowers in our hair.

There was too much currypuffs, murtabaks, fries, potato salads, spaghetti, pizza, and sooooo much more till we were stuffed to the brim.

Sang along to songs played on the acoustic guitars.

Gathered around the cake in the middle, with 10 of us trying to get candles out with our mouths.

Swam a little half an hour before the pool closed, albeit the restraining orders from the security guard, ugh.

Also got a surprise gift from the girls by the end of the party; a cute white dress from Cats Whiskers.

Thanks babes! (: (pictures are in Hsien's camera. will probably have to wait a few weeks for that!)

Comedy Night & Manor

Stand-up comedians here are so underrated, because these people were so funny i couldn't believe some of them were local!

It was abit of drinks and dancing after that at Manor, Heritage Row.

Oh, did I forget to mention the drama bit at the end? *cough cough* Ade, club owner, and talking hopelessly to a drunk girl involved. Ask no further, haha!

As always, we made comical hammers out of foam and a framed house for Houses2Homes. It did attract all the attention we wanted and the response was overwhelming! :)

Back to School!

So classes have finally resumed. (not that i'm happy with it la, i want more holidays!)

And this week's basically focused on introductions to all our subjects. Yet, I can feel the pressure slowly creeping up my back because I get the idea of what we're going to do this semester.

Theories?? Building Services?? Structures?? WHAAA-----???

Its going to be even more packed, even more difficult! I'm not surprised if I break down by the end of the semester due to workload and stress lor seriously.

And yet, I don't know why and how I can accept and commit myself to more and more things this semester. Besides just joining the student council, I'm looking forward to helping Hsien with her newly established Houses2Homes club.(: I want to finally get off my ass and learn some Street Jazz dancing, something that I've wanted to do for a long time but never got around to doing!

And these are just amongst the whole list, where others are some teeny side responsibilities; but nevertheless will take up alot of time and effort.

Yes, wish me luck on surviving this semester thank you very much.

Anyway, I've recently completed a booklet that was assigned to us prior to the Shanghai Expo trip. Its something for us to document our experience in the expo, and whilst I didn't bother following exactly the criteria that they wanted (hierarchy, massing, section diagrams and whatnot wtf), I think I'm satisfied with the scrapbook-like detail I put to it. Because I felt that it helped me understand everything in the Expo more.

I highly doubt that I can manage to get any of that prize money but oh well. Still kinda happy with what I did! :D

Alex's submission was in the form of a photo journal, which i think was really nice. (Hope you don't mind me putting this up here, Alex!) And he even put all our names at the back eventhough all credits go to him, aiyoyo.

Changkat

So we were supposed to head down to KL for some dancing at Poppy.

But due to circumstances that cannot be avoided, we didn't manage to.

Hence plan B was to head to Changkat KL where all these fancy bars lay in a row.

I forgot the name of the bar we went to.. but it was really happening downstairs and more cosy and personal upstairs.

We decided to chill upstairs :) ;

Broga

We did intend to go to Broga hill, the lot of us, last Wednesday. But when the organiser can't make it, plans tend to die too.

So it was totally impromptu when Alex insisted we go ahead, just the four of us, on Thursday.

And it was hillarious, how we actually don't even know the way to Broga hill but went ahead anyway. We were depending on Alex's GPS that.. died halfway.

OH MY GOD WE WERE LOST IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. WHERE THE HECK IS SEMENYIH!???!

Thank God Hsien called up a friend who studied in Nottingham Univeristy, which is just in front of Broga Hill. And we managed to find our way there after a numerous tolls and some turning backs.

After parking at a clearing at an oil palm estate, we started to set foot up the hill. It was VERY tiring (maybe because we were amateurs), the steps were very steep so every step we took sucked alot of energy out of us. Its laughable how we were so ambitious at first, wanting to climb to the very peak, at the 3rd view point.

We were thankful enough to have even climbed up to the 1st view point, yelling 'Hallelujah!' when we reached. :) And after some resting, we even made it to the 2nd view point.

Mosquito's come in packs here so if you intend to go, make sure every inch of your exposed skin is covered with mosquito repellent I'M SERIOUS.

We managed to see a little bit of sun-setting before we decided to head down. Didn't want to end up climbing down in the dark because it was really steep.

Last day of the Shanghai trip. (yes, finally! haha. TOO GODDAMN MANY PICS!)

Woke up really early to squeeze some sight-seeing in the morning before we headed for the night-time expo view.

We browsed through some art works at a street, and went to Shanghai's famous Yu Garden.

The art shops were mostly closed at such early hours wtf.

And, the Yu Garden was indeed one of its kind. A typical chinese garden that you see in those Chinese drama with palaces in it, hah!

The famous siu lung bao's were there too. But due to time constraint, we couldn't bear to line up 2 hours for them! ):

We also visited the Shanghai Museum. Even the entrance required queuing up OMGGG. Too much, the China population, TOO MUCH!

It was inspiring, having go through the centuries of history China has. And I have to say I'm amazed by the way they layout the whole thing, very systematiccc. (unlike here.)

It was off to the Shanghai Expo again after that! And we decided to go for the Spain Pavilion.

Again, they had amazing video projections. What puzzles me is the huge freakin' baby in the middle of the pavilion towards the end. Its FREAKY. You'll understand what I mean when you scroll down and look at those pictures.

We went around for night sceneries of the expo after. And it was amazing how the whole 54km square is brightly lit with so many pavilions (:

Since it was our last day, we made ourselves wake up at 3am in the morning the next day to witness Shanghai's 4.30am sunrise at the Bund.

It wasn't very fruitful because it was sooo cloudy, but we definitely enjoyed taking pictures and observing the kite-flying, Tai Chi and dog-walking of the local Shanghainese. :)

Day three.

It was a day of lining-up for pavilions yet again. But we had set our minds on going for the United Arab Emirates pavilion.

It was definitely my favourite pavilion of the whole trip because its so pretty and the interior was AMAZING.

The video projections were awesomerrific they took my breath away!

The day got even better for us when our dear friend Mustafa tried getting us into the Saudi Arabia pavilion by claiming he was from Saudi Arabia. (The queue to that pavilion takes about 6-8 hours mind you, with queues to even queue up!)

Best part was, the VIP's let us in! We skipped a 6-8 hours queue WTFFF.

We went into the pavilion through some VIP access. It was so cool I could pee in my pants!

Day 2 of the Shanghai trip was spent sight seeing!

The French Concession was beautiful, with little alleys and bricked walls everywhere. It felt like a whole different world on its own somewhere in the middle of Shanghai.

We also spent the afternoon at the Zhu Jia Jiao (no, not ku ku jiao please) water village. Really enjoyed the boat ride that brought us along the river. It was like a more humble version of the Venice canal boat-riding?

It was amazing when emerging under bridges and we had a great view of the village and its local lifestyle. (:

The night was a dramatic one. We had our minds set on heading towards a street half an hour drive away from our hotel. The area was recommended by the taxi driver for 'nightlife'. It turned out to be the city's red light district. Whaaaa-t!!!? Dodgy much.

So, we ended up turning back to the Bund. The taxi driver dropped as at the endddd of the Bund (which was not well lit and very dodgy thank you very much). We were lost, and we kept walking and walking. I was in heels, and Matthias refused to take a cab!!!!!!

Well thank God we finally took a cab and found the place everyone else were at. We drank the night away at a cosy lighthouse bar by the Bund. (:

Ta pao-ed the Corona Extra and had to hold my heels on the other hand so my feet wouldn't hurt!

I'm back from Shanghai and am finally able to update after sufficient rest!

Trust me, it was really tiring. 14 hours of sleep for the past 2 days and I still feel so lethargic!

Day 1 was a 1.40am flight without much sleep on the plane but loads of freaking turbulence.

We went to the Expo as soon as we touched down, imagine that.

The Expo was huge and crowded, and i'm not exaggerating. Walking is not encouraged because by the end of the day, your legs will feels like they might just 'pop!' off your waist band :)

I was very much surprised by the people. Shanghai was such a modern city and yet, the people I see around were spitting, walking around with their bellies exposed, and peeing in public.

GOSH.

Lines to each pavilion took at least 1 hour, with alot of pushing in between to keep the Chinese people from rudely pushing their way to the front of the line.

Nevertheless, i'm glad we all chose the right Pavilions to go into because they were worth the wait :) (oh, except the Latvia one which looks too beautiful and captivating on the outside but they decided to show us some fancy but disappointing 10-minute-air-flying tricks on the inside.

Ridiculous.

So me and the family decided to have our dinner at the Pasta Zanmai outlet in Empire Gallery just last Sunday.

It was delicious and we were lucky we didn't have to wait long eventhough the place was super-packed.

What I learnt from this trip? My mom has turned into a super-camwhore! (She's worse then me!)

Best thing is, she sits there posing, ready for you to take a shot whether you like it or not.

Datum KL, the hugest architecture event held every year. And I decided to go for this year's one :)

Over the span of two days, a few of us gathered at the KL Convention Centre to look at works by various architects from all over the world.

I was quite jakun lah you know, was taken aback by the vast amount of people who actually attended and the way we got to eat buffet-style at this huge hall during breaks. Felt like a grand banquet from Harry Potter wtf, only we had to stand and eat.

The works were truly inspiring, although I regret feeling drowsy at certain times because I paid RM200 for this conference, haha.

My favourite speakers were Sou Fujimoto and of course, Charles Renfro.

Was truly amazed and had a good laugh over their presentation skills and works. Yeay yeay i'm a geek i know.

The last weekend before my design final was packed,

but somehow I managed to squeeze in attending the monkey's sister's graduation ceremony, and a dinner with the monkey's family.

Its really lucky how the peeps in Garden get this proper ceremony after graduating from just A Levels, and crazily unimaginable how msot of them are moving on to universities that are top in the whole world.

It feels very intimidating, yes. ouch.

Celebratory dinner the next day was at Mom's Place somewhere in Damansara. Monkey was back from Singapore by then and we had a nice dinner altogether :)

Food was yummy, company was great. (but work nagging at the back of my head was shit)

:) It was nice, seeing the monkey again and having great food and company in midst of all the final design presentation stress.

We should do this again, heh.

HAHAHAHHA MY BLOG IS SO DEAD. :)

I really could not find the time to update especially in the past week! i've been studying for my exams and preparing for my final design presentation, and it has totally sucked the soul out of me.

It was a hectic week, no sleep as usual, and i'm glad that its. FINALLY. OVER.

This semester has been hectic; the schedule for hand-ups are most of the time disorganised, 5 subjects were hard to juggle, and panic mode seemed to always be switched on amongst us.

Sigh.

Well, nevertheless i'm glad i gave it my best shot. Wasn't exactly veryy happy about my final design, but i really tried my best;

In between all that, was Father's day.

And I feel so bad for not getting anything for my dad, in midst of all the hectic workload.

We went to Jyu Raku in the area near SJMC, to have some Japanese food. (Gosh my parents love Japanese food too, i'm starting to get sick of it!)

The place wasn't too bad, although I still prefer the restaurant next to it, Rakuzen.

Service was quite poor, the air-cond was blowing at full speed towards us, and the staff gave up and walked away just like that when she didn't know what to do about it, wat the heck.

Food was a plus point though, especially the sashimi and the prawn roll we had. :)

After days of suffering from building a model of the Petronas Twin Towers for one of our assignments, the few of us took a break at Serene's brother's newly opened fusion restaurant in Puchong.

It was their opening ceremony, and with limited invitations only allowed, I am thankful that Serene had decided to let us in because she probably wanted to thank us for all the hard work we put into that model. :P

Chillex was a great place to hang out, with comfy booths or seats in comfy corners everywhere. TV screens are also placed almost everywhere, so people won't miss a minute of the World Cup.

They serve jumbo-sized hot dogs, burgers and even pizzas; I heard its on the house if you can finish it within a certain time limit!

The opening ceremony was very welcoming, with free food and free flow of beer, and even a lion dance performance to accompany!

hmmmmm.

... after three full days of rendering, with an average of 4 to 5 hours to get 10 seconds worth of animation. (also after getting fatal errors and crashes for about 10239749374 times because it was too hard on the CPU)

mmhmm.

i just realised how tough it is just to make an animation like that.

wished i had the luxury of time to make the video longer though, it seems a little too short.

oh well.. so there's my animation for one of my class's assignment. *shy*

I know I've been away for quite some time. Its only because of the constant piling amount of work i have.

Noone who isn't in Architecture can even begin to understand what its like for us.

Just be thankful you get to sleep, alright? (us not getting a wink of sleep 3 days in a row is totally normal)

And I'll show you just one of the things we were made to do, in my next post. It required days of leaving my computer on to complete, and alot of praying that it wouldn't crash.

But today, I'm going to be telling you..

Its sucking the life out of me!!!

I'm talking about Design Studio class.

Endless nights without much sleep, producing this.

It didn't go as well as I hoped for today, and I feel hopeless.

Perhaps it was because my mind was too exhausted from the drawings, model-making, photomontaging, and 3d modelling that I just really couldn't think of the right words to say.

I didn't sign up for this because I wanted to bullshit my way through, thank you very much. But it looks like that is exactly what I have to do to pass this final hurdle.

I think we all take our homes for granted.

After a long day at college finishing up assignments and going for oh-so-boring lectures, we long for our comfy beds and technological retreats,
where?

When we get hungry, we smell the aroma of mom's cooking from the kitchen and expect the meal to be served in 10 minutes or so, and a dinner table rounded up by your family members,
where?

When we want to catch American Idol (I love Lee but thought Crystal deserved the title btw), or even a weekly series like Glee on TV, we rush to where for the sake of the comforts and convenience of doing it?

When we long for the support of the family after a tough blow on your self-esteem or emotions, where do you go?

Well, need I elaborate more.

To think that alot of people in poverty out there don't have a place to go back to in this way, is just sad.

The least we could do is give them a proper shelter, right?

Which is why I decided to support the cause of a recently-established club created by Hsien, Houses2Homes.

We had a Recruitement Drive recently, and even came up with several great ideas to attract newcomers to the club.

We got quite a number of response, and it was indeed fun for those of us involved! (:

Hello. Its 11.53pm and I'm fidgeting in my seat, wondering what am I going to do now.

You see, I am so used to the stress mounting at the back of my head, urging me to complete an assignment which should be due the next day.

However today, I really just couldn't be bothered.

The endless stream of assignments up to date have drained all my energy, and though I know there is another stream up ahead I can't seem to bring myself to be hardworking.

Not today, not tonight.

I need rest. I need some entertainment and fun!

Flipping through a book on 'mini houses', a particular house nestled in the Swiss Alps caught my attention.

The swinging triangular panels and open-able deck and kitchen counter just called out to me; and i immediately selected it for my 3d modeling assignment.

Okay, I know this all may sound like such alien language to you. But the point of this post was to show you all the hard work i've put into modeling this house up over the past few months, up to the point of last week when we had to include the surrounding landscape and materials of the building.

It really isn't easy! We used a computer program designed to kill people's brain cells really, with 123408599 settings to take into consideration just to get a particular effect that you want.

If you want to die, yes, please go ahead and download this software called 3DS MAX.

After 2 weeks of confinement in his camp, he came back to visit,

We treated ourselves to a game of BOWLING.

I was leading at first with 2 strikes!

But he tapao-ed me right at the end of the game, when he scored a 'spare' after his 'strike'. ):

Like his hair wasn't freaking short enough, he had to cut it again. ):

We had a McD's breakfast and some rounds of swings at the park on that Sunday morning. Before we knew it, he had to leave again. sigh.
